For Faculty & Staff
Request an Academic Integrity Presentation
One of the most effective ways to prevent academic dishonesty is to engage students
in a conversation about the topic. Discussing the importance of academic integrity,
clarifying the definitions of the four types of academic dishonesty, and providing
suggestions for how to eliminate the "need" to commit academic dishonesty, will
go a long way toward curbing violations of the Code of Academic Integrity.
Students respond positively to faculty members who show that they care about academic
integrity both by discussing the topic and enforcing the rules as set out in the
Code.
In an effort to help start classroom discussions about academic integrity, University
Student Judiciary (USJ) members will come to your class to present on the Code of
Academic Integrity, types of academic dishonesty, ways to avoid academic
dishonesty, the Honor Review process, and other related conduct issues (depending
on the length of the presentation.
Presentations will be tailored to meet the needs of your class.
- Length -- between 15 minutes and 1 hour
- Audience -- tailored for specific types of classes (e.g., lab, writing-intensive,
exam-intensive) and participants (e.g., undergraduates, graduate students, TAs)
